Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of more than 37 million children in need in the United States and in more than 50 countries around the world. Recognized for their commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, their work takes them into the heart of communities, where they help children and families help themselves by ensuring that they have the resources and skills to enable them to do so, working with local organizations and government agencies.

Save the Children ensures that children in need participate in quality literacy, nutrition and physical activity programs. In Emergencies and Crisis, Save the Children works for and with children at risk of hunger and malnutrition and those affected by natural disaster, war and conflict.

The Charity Navigator rates Save the Children at 4 stars, which places it alongside such worthy charities as the ones Winterfest supported in 2006, Doctors Without Borders and 2007, CARE, in terms of the percentage of donations which are actually used for program work (90.4%) as opposed to fundraising (6.0%) or administrative expenses (3.4%). As we did in previous years, we will be holding Ebay auctions to raise funds for Save the Children. We’ll have some terrific items on auction. As in previous years, every penny raised will go to the charity - we will provide free shipping within the U.S./Canada for auction winners. What a deal, right?! So be sure to check out our auctions and bid with a full heart!

For those who prefer to contribute funds for the charity, you have several options. As in previous years, you can send a donation via Paypal. Donate by sending a Paypal payment to joannb2003@yahoo.com - all funds collected will be passed on to the charity in one check after Winterfest is over as a Winterfest contribution on behalf of Beauty and the Beast fans.
